Configuring VS Test Console Agent

The NUnit runners are part of the Korredo installation package. The VS Test console Agent needs to be downloaded & installed separately.  This can be done by opening the Korredo as an administrator and accessing the menu Options->Settings. The admin privileges are required because the plugins need to be copied into the VS Test console path under Program Files directory.

1. Visual Studio installed

If you have already installed the VS Test console as part of a Visual Studio installation then make sure that the path points to the correct place. Then, click the Install plugin link 2015 or 2017 based on your version.

If you receive no error, then you can run tests right away. In case Korredo is unable to copy the plugins files, you will receive an error specifying that vs test console process needs to be terminated first.

For Visual Studio 2015 the path is usually:

c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\Common7\IDE\CommonExtensions\Microsoft\TestWindow\vstest.console.exe

For Visual Studio 2017 the path is

c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\Professional\Common7\IDE\Extensions\TestPlatform\vstest.console.exe

2. Visual Studio or VS Test Agent console  is not installed

If you do not have the Visual test console then click the Download link within Korredo settings section and follow the indications. Then do the steps from the chapter above.

Note: it is required to install the VS Test console Agent on all Korredo agents. The Korredo plugin is compatible with both 2015 and 2017 versions of the VS Test console application.

The correct path for VS 2017 Test agent is:

c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\TestAgent\Common7\IDE\Extensions\TestPlatform\vstest.console.exe

Korredo has a logic to try these locations automatically at the first launch.
